Features of 7000 Series Aluminum Alloy
1. 7000 series aluminum alloy is a commonly used alloy containing Zn and Mg. Among 7xxx series aluminum alloy, 7075 aluminum alloy has highest strength, but it cannot be welded, also poor in corrosion resistance. The 7075 aluminum alloy can be used as CNC machining tools.
2. 7000 series aluminum alloy mainly contains Zinc, when add a little Mg into the material, it makes the aluminum alloy can be well heat treated to get high strength. Generally, there are small amount of Cu and Cr alloying elements in 7000 series aluminum alloy, among which 7075 aluminum alloy is a kind of super-hard aluminum alloy, and can be widely used for fabricating airplane frame and airplane accessories.
3. 7075 aluminum alloy has been used in manufacturing airplane since the 1940s, it can be well hardened after heat treatment. 7075 aluminum alloy has high strength under a temperature of 150℃, also in low temperature. It has lower resistance to corrosion than many other aluminum alloys, so it needs to be wrapped with aluminum or with other surface protection. During annealing and quenching heat treatment, the yield strength of 7075 aluminum alloy is a little lower than 2A12 aluminum alloy, but the yield strength and corrosion resistance is a little higher than 7A04 aluminum alloy.
